Barton Under Needwood Steam Rally and Family Festival organisers have presented a cheque to The Midlands Air Ambulance following last year’s rally. All proceeds from this year’s event will, once again, go to The Midlands Air Ambulance.
This year’s ever popular event will, once again, be held at Barton Gate near Barton Under Needwood, just a few minutes drive from the A38 Barton turn on 21st and 22nd July 2011.
New this year we welcome the Nuneaton Dog Training Club with their displays of dog agility over a specially designed course. Bring your dog along for them to have a go. Also new this year are full sized Waterballs where you can try your skill. For the first time we have a demonstration of chain-saw sculpture. New on Saturday only you can meet a meerkat with Oreo and Friends. Sunday only we have a fabulous live falconry display. Joining us for the weekend is the Staffordshire Museum on the Move which features an exciting exhibition of how people have spent their leisure time over the past 200 years. Marvel at our magician, tap your toes with A Touch of Life Dance Group; relax with a drink while enjoying our live bands. The children can drive the Little Landies, miniature landrovers, around a course. See Woodys Wings with their rescue parrots and owls.
Once again we welcome a variety of large steam engines, some old favourites and some of which will be visiting the rally for the first time. You may even have the opportunity to try your hand at steering one of the magnificent machines. We have an excellent variety of vintage tractors, classic cars, motorcycles and bicycles of yesteryear. You will also be able to see a fine collection of historic commercial vehicles and stationary engines many of which well be working to illustrate how they were used in days gone by.
Joining us are our long time supporters The Carters with their beautiful dogs pulling decorated carts. Pop into the craft marquee where you will find stalls and exhibitions including a local photography club. Visit the trade stands for an opportunity to seek out some bargain collectables and antique tools. Children will love the kiddies fairground area and the opportunity to visit the ice cream van. Adults may welcome a refreshing pint in the beer marquee! Hot and cold foods are available all day.
A full programme of arena events will take place both days including parades of all of the classes of vintage vehicles mentioned with tractor balancing, ladies steering and a few surprises.
The event is open from 10am until 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is £5 for adults and £1 for children (fees payable for certain activities). Weekend camping is available. This year we are raising money for The Midlands Air Ambulance so do come along and join in the fun, all for a very worthy cause, you never know when you or yours might need the Midlands Air Ambulance’s life saving services.
Programme of arena events will be weather dependant. Exhibits in attendance are correct at time of printing.
