Families heading abroad this summer are taking so much baby gear, it’s twice the average flight baggage allowance alone.
Eurocamp found more than two thirds of parents (69%) are packing five bulky items, which together weigh more than 45kg. And one third of parents actually avoid booking a family holiday because they have to pack so much equipment.
Eurocamp conducted a survey with Netmums, the country's largest parenting website, to find out how they could help families travelling abroad on holiday. More than 1,000 parents were asked what equipment they would pack for a one week holiday with their baby or toddler.
The results found that 69% of parents would pack all five of the most popular items: a pram/buggy, a baby rocker, safety gate, a high-chair and bedding. All this equipment combined weighs in excess of 45g, without taking into account other clothing and toiletries.
However, Eurocamp is the ideal holiday location for weighed-down families. Not only do most people drive to the holiday parcs across the continent, but they are specially designed to take the stress out of family holidays.
Netmums founder Siobhan Freegard said: “Bulky baby equipment can be a real nightmare to pack, and weighs a ton! So it’s not surprising that we found that over a third of parents would be put off booking a family holiday, just because of excessive packing.
“Thankfully there are options available to give parents a helping hand, with holiday companies like Eurocamp, who have considered the special extras that will not only lighten the load when packing but put parents at ease while on holiday.”
The other main concerns of parents revealed through the survey, were: - 80.5% were put off by the cost of the holiday
40.4% were worried about being restricted to a hotel room while the baby sleeps
- 21.8% were worries about entertaining children away from home
Eurocamp’s new Petit Paradis parcs are the perfect solution for all of these problems for families with toddlers. They are a collection of 11 super toddler-friendly parcs, which have been specially selected for their provision of baby and toddler extras. They actually include free baby equipment hire, such as baby baths, cots, highchairs, bedrails and decking gates; coupled with baby and toddler-safe pitches, an on-parc laundry and shop.
Jayne Esau, assistant brand manager and parenting expert at Eurocamp, said: “As a parent of eighteen month old twins, I totally empathise with these concerns, but I’m relieved knowing that there are options available, like those offered by Eurocamp, where not only will the baby equipment be provided, but there is plenty of entertainment for little ones, such as the toddler swimming lessons and Tumble Tots sessions, all of which are all free.
“The accommodation options are also ideal, as you can easily relax outdoors with a bottle of wine on the decking of your mobile home, while your little ones are safely sleeping inside. There’s no need to be confined to a hotel room.”
