Avoid A Winter Holillday

.

Don’t let illness ruin your family’s winter holiday fun

Whether it’s a nasty cut or scrape from running around outside, a stomach upset from unfamiliar food, or an ear infection from the swimming pool - having a child fall ill whilst on holiday is every parent’s worst nightmare.

According to the new Post Office Guide to Keeping Kids Healthy on Holiday, fifteen per cent of parents worry about their children getting ill while on holiday.

While you can’t always prepare for your child being ill on holiday, without travel insurance parents can also be faced with considerable medical bills. The most common illness claimed for – the ear infection – would have set parents back an average of £291 if they did not have insurance. Parents claimed back an average of £358 for cuts and scrapes as the second most common complaint, and the costs rose sharply for the third most common illness – parents claimed back an average of £1234 for gastroenteritis, which can require hospitalisation.

Parents taking their children abroad these holidays are being encouraged to make sure they are prepared for how best to protect the family’s health.
