Rainforests are often studied at school particularly the Amazonian Rainforest in Brazil. They are studied for their diversity of wildlife and plants, to show what effect human activity can have on an ecosystem, the need for conservation projects and to discuss the difficulties which can hamper the success of the conservation projects.

Rainforest Action Network - a very informative site about the rainforest and also gives advice on how children can help protect the rainforest.
Children's Tropical Forests - fact sheets on the physical environment, plants, animals and indigenous people, their destruction, the consequences and what must be done to save them.
Rainforest Live - a very informative site with a description of a rainforest, and information on animals, plants, people which live there and also how the rainforests are being destroyed.
Amazon Interactive - Explore the geography of the Ecuadorian Amazon through online games and activities. For older children.
Project Rainforest - This web site was created to educate others about the tropical rainforests in an explorative and interactive manner as well as encouraging users to share ideas about conservation of the rainforests. For older children.
